The Need

Ramakrishna Mission Batticaloa, Eastern Province has identified approximately 500 families in the Mannar and Batticaloa Districts in need of food relief during the current wave of the COVID19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.

• On September 25, dry rations were distributed to 400 families in Mannar District - essential items such as rice, sugar, lentils, soy, sugar, tea powder and nutrient powder. This work covered areas such as Semman Island, Thettavadi, Ganeshapuram, Island Pitti, Tarapuram, Sabarikulam, and Vellankulam.

• On September 26, dry rations were distributed to 100 families of Ayithiyamalai, Batticaloa District - essential items such as rice, wheat, sugar, pulses, peanuts and soybeans.

The package delivered to each family cost approximately 1,450 Rupees ($10 Cdn dollars)
