Many children across North and East Sri Lanka are in orphanages and others require significant medical care. While it is not possible to meet the needs of all these unfortunate children, we can do something to alleviate the suffering of some. As such, IMHO Canada has chosen the children at the Gurukulam Orphanage in Uruthrapuram, Kilinochchi as the initial beneficiaries of a new IMHO Canada campaign. This orphanage looks after 212 children, including 50 orphans. Most, if not all, of the children have undergone considerable suffering and/or were placed in the orphanage due to the extreme poverty of their single parents. This campaign has another objective: funding cardiac surgeries for war-affected children of North and East Sri Lanka. Without these surgeries, the lifespan of the affected children is minimal and most may not live beyond childhood. Our approach with this campaign is very simple. We are asking that you encourage your children to share the money they receive as part of celebrations of their “special days” with another but less fortunate child from Northeast Sri Lanka. Special days are not limited to just birthdays, but can also include other celebrations such as puberty ceremonies, graduations, dance & music recitals, etc. Even a small amount will help feed impoverished children. A nominal amount will help another child to seek much needed medical care. The opportunities to share our celebrations are endless. The joy we get out of it is priceless. Please read through the information posted below and share this with your children and their friends. Thank you for your continuous support!
