This project is designed to help get young people involved in helping other young people in Sri Lanka! The concept is simple: A school called the Tharmapuram Maha Vidyalayam in North of Sri Lanka in a place called Kilinochi was damaged during the war and we are now trying to repair and rebuild this school. As the first step, we would like to construct a play area for these children that will include exercise bars, swings, a few see-saws, and build a good fence around the play area so that the children can play safely. In order to raise the funds necessary to make this playground a reality, we will be giving one small piggy bank to each of 100 children. When you pick up your piggy bank, you or your parents will donate $5. The $500 that we will collect will be immediately sent to the school so that they can start the work on the play area. Then, we would like you to fill your piggy bank with coins. You can ask your friends, family, take it with you to parties or to functions that you may attend, etc. Once you are done, simply bring it back to us. We will send the money immediately to the school and publish your photo and one or two paragraphs about yourself in our website thanking you for your efforts in building a play area for these children. Not only will you have helped us to build a play area for these deserving children, you will also encourage other kids in Canada and the US to come forward and help children in other parts of the world to have a better life!
