IMHO Canada thrives off the enthusiasm and support of so many generous and thoughtful donors who share our vision for promoting the well being of those in need through improved health & medical care. Helping to fill the void in health services, especially throughout Northeast Sri Lanka, IMHO Canada plays an important role in meeting the health & medical needs of those who have endured so many years of poverty, displacement, war, and other hardship. Last year Anpuneri BBQ event fundraiserwe challenged our supporters and the public in general to get behind IMHO Canada in rebuilding lives. Many have responded, including Anpuneri, a small group of volunteers who collected $5,500 for a microcredit program and pledged an additional $4,500 to help war-affected women revive their livelihoods. In so doing, these women not only find a sense of self-worth again, but can provide for their families once again, improving the quality of life for the entire family.

Handover of eqpmt to DelftAnother thoughtful group, the Delft (Neduntheevu) People’s Cultural Organization of Canada rallied the support of their members to raise $4,800 to help provide medical equipment and better facilities at the Delft Hospital. This amount was matched by IMHO Canada, bringing the total to $9,600, which will undoubtedly lead to improved treatment and care for patients at the hospital.

Further support has come in creative ways from those who have turned special occasions into opportunities to raise funds for those in need in Sri Lanka, Wedding donationsuch as the Umasuthan Family, who celebrated their wedding anniversary with a gift to IMHO Canada, and the wedding of Sasindran Namasivayam & Wei Ping Zhou, in which monetary gifts were collected to support war-affected persons in Sri Lanka. We are so grateful to all of our donors—not just for your generosity and compassion, but also for demonstrating creative ways in which people can draw attention to humanitarian causes and mobilize support. As one of our IMHO youth volunteers so aptly put it, “Simple acts of kindness may seem relatively insignificant when compared to the graveness of the world’s most horrific situations, but it is only through minute increments that greater goals can be achieved.”
